Powering Up Broadcast at IBC 2024 with FOR-A

FOR-A at IBC2024, Fabio Varolo

After a brief absence, FOR-A is back at IBC and we’ll be at our usual spot at the front of hall 2. Before the show, on 4 September, we’re hosting our traditional virtual tour webinar – a great chance to preview our innovations.

This year, our focus is on helping broadcasters evolve their operations to meet today’s production challenges. We’re showcasing software-defined architectures that enable smooth transitions to IP, flexible remote production and advanced applications. Our RDS Conductor, for instance, is simplifying resource management in IP environments, while our SOAR-A platform is revolutionising how broadcasters approach software-optimised appliances. Additionally, we will present the new software-based switcher designed for the SMPTE ST-2110 environment, which is currently in development.

Product Highlights and Key Solutions at IBC2024

A highlight I’m particularly excited about is our new software-based production switcher, developed with ClassX. It’s designed to offer unparalleled flexibility, working well for both traditional broadcast and live streaming. We’ll be demonstrating this live at our stand, alongside our trusted HVS-190 and HVS-490 series switchers, which now support hybrid SDI/IP workflows.

Our solutions provide the opportunity to work across SDI, compressed and uncompressed IP. This allows our customers to build precisely the functionality they need, whether they’re looking at remote production, SMPTE ST 2110 implementation, or exploring new technologies. A great example of this is our MFR-3100EX, an all-in-one production center that seamlessly bridges SDI and IP worlds.

We’re also showcasing KOALA, our camera tracking system from FOR-A Italia. It enables rapid acquisition of camera data and seamlessly operates in various broadcast settings.

As part of our virtual reality demonstrations, we’ll have an Alfalite LED wall at our stand. We’re also introducing AlfaArt, a collaboration that transforms spaces with moving ambient art, showing how our technology extends beyond traditional broadcasting.

While we’re excited about these innovations, we haven’t forgotten our roots. Visitors to our stand will also see our industry-standard, multi-channel processors, all-in-one production centers, and reliable video switchers that have been the backbone of many broadcast operations for years. These tried-and-true solutions continue to evolve, now offering hybrid SDI/IP capabilities to bridge the gap between traditional and next-generation workflows.
